A squad of cybersecurity firms have tracked a ransomware threat spreading across the internet known as Ryuk, which has collected over 705 BTC in just five months, estimated to be worth the equivalent of $3.7 million. Using email phishing campaigns to inject tens of thousands of victims with a banking Trojan called TrickBot, ransomers later hand-picking infected machines believed to be owned by large companies or government organizations on which to deploy Ryuk, ZDNet reports. The amount earned by Ryuk Ransomware in just a short span of 5 months astounds me! It spreads through common internet services, encrypts the files & demands hefty amount as ransom. The attack of this pernicious file virus could have been avoided by employing good security practices & by being vigilant while using internet.
